"My philosophy of the school is to set high standards, expect the students to reach these standards, and step in and provide additional help or discipline when they do not meet our standards. Student accountability is our key directive."
Dr. Michael Groves, President.

You are looking for a school that can give your child self-discipline, confidence, motivation, and ultimately, more success in life. And at Oak Hill Academy, because we understand that your family may have needs any time of the year, we accept students year-round.

What will life be like at Oak Hill for your child? Though we are not a military school, we are very structured, emphasizing attention to homework, proper dress code, punctuality, and being where you’re supposed to be. We reduce teenage distractions by limiting use of phones, the Internet and TV. We have nightly study halls, and mandatory tutorials for students whose grades drop below “C.” And yet, our students also experience some of the freedoms of college. They live in dorm rooms and learn independence—which serves them well when they go off to college--as 95% of our students do.

Oak Hill’s secure campus, emphasis on structure, and caring, attentive staff is also ideal for international students who need to adapt to a new culture-and we are fully approved by the U.S. government for teaching foreign students. Here, respect for others is not just a philosophy—it’s a daily practice. We believe that regular interaction with people from other walks of life, countries, and faiths is a major component of the educational experience. And while Oak Hill is a Baptist-affiliated school, we respect and accommodate the needs of students of all religions and cultures. Whether they come from Korea, England, Egypt New York, North Carolina, or Virginia our students say they benefit greatly from their experience on "the hill." Browse through our informal guestbook and you'll discover the life-changing impact of being an Oak Hill Academy student.

We believe that the cultivation of success is a daily exercise. In ways large and small, our teachers seek out each student’s strengths, and build them slowly and consistently, over time. Through a combination of structure and support, established rules and well-defined expectations, we see kids who once chose failure, now reach for success.

Perhaps your child will be one of them. We hope you’ll consider Oak Hill Academy—we may be your child’s Turning Point.
