Even though we are a college prep boarding school, we strive for a work-life balance that maximizes productivity of the “work” and enjoyment of the “life.” Enjoyment is the reason Oak Hill Academy instituted Warrior Weekends–wherein a team of faculty and staff offers special trips and activities over the course of a Friday, Saturday and Sunday. This February’s Warrior Weekend offered trips for hiking, ziplining, trampolining, and ice skating. Students could get manicures and pedicures, grab a fast food meal, see a movie, attend a contemporary church service, go to a restaurant, or visit an entertainment center featuring bowling, laser tag, and arcade games. On-campus activities included international cooking, a pizza and painting session, and an enhanced Sunday afternoon social complete with an 18-hole mini golf course and 60-foot putting challenge. Unseasonably nice weather allowed for an outdoor meal of nachos and hamburger, hotdog, and chicken sliders after the social. Thanks to Meriwether-Godsey, our food service team, for that.
Props to the faculty/staff Warrior Weekend team–and many thanks for the photos!
